Trainings for Community Leaders

Community Response Model: The only way to exponentially increase safety within our Black community is to build a comprehensive network of Black leaders who are trained to support survivors of violence and connect them with community resources. We train Black ministers and other trusted Black leaders and peers to respond to survivors and those at risk with EASE (educated, aware, sensitive, effective).

About our Signature EASE Training: Our signature EASE training teaches participants to identify warning signs of potential or past violence; understand the breadth of community resources available; and facilitate healing among violence survivors, perpetrators, and impacted loved ones. We focus on this “train the trainer” model because statistically, Black survivors of violence often turn to peers and trusted community leaders before navigating formal support systems or outside institutions. Our goal is for every Black person who has experienced violence, is at-risk of experiencing violence, or who has behaved violently to know WHO they can turn to WITHIN their community for support.

We have trained hundreds of Black community leaders over the past 30+ years, including Black ministers, teachers and principals at Seattle Public Schools, and leaders of Community-Based Organizations addressing systemic inequities and serving BIPOC.
